Extended Care

Welcome to SVFS Extended Care Program!

It is the goal of St. Vincent Ferrer School Extended Care Program to provide a safe and caring environment. Our program provides professional care, supervision, and homework support, as well as recreational and enrichment activities.

In accordance with our goal, we strive to create an environment in which we recognize each student is unique and has a different potential and rate of development. The Extended Care Program employs qualified staff consisting of a director and 4-6 assistants. This maintains a student/teacher ratio of about 8:1, ensuring that students get support for their individual needs.

We focus on helping the students with their daily homework providing grade-level tutoring assistance in all subjects such as math and English. Students have access to all resources as well as technology (Chromebooks and iPads) to complete their daily homework.

Extended Care has a separate tutoring program for students that need extra support in reading. These groups of students are enrolled in an online program called myLEXIA. This program provides individual reading resources based on their reading level.

In addition to providing academic support, the Extended Care Program also provides many enrichment activities for students. Arts and crafts projects and games are just a few of the activities planned, providing a relaxing and fun place for all students. Extended Care offers several enrichment programs such as BrickSpace, animal presentations, library field trips, etc. We also celebrate the holidays with the Thanksgiving feast, Christmas hot chocolate bar and cookie decoration, and January will have the visit of the Three Kings bringing toys to all the students in our program. During the year we will celebrate monthly birthdays with special snacks for the celebrants and students. We also participate supporting our sports teams during home games on Friday afternoons.

The Extended Care Program is available before school from 6:45 am to 7:55 am and after school from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The Extended Care Program operates only on regular school days and is closed yearly for summer vacation, after dismissal on the last day of school. The Extended Care Program is available on minimum days from 12:00 pm to 6:30 pm for children enrolled in the program and for drop-in students.

If families need care during the summer, the SAINTS Summer Program will be available for five weeks. During these five weeks students will have the opportunity to work on their academic skills as well as many fun activities and field trips.

Tuition fees are the sole support of SVFS Extended Care, which is not subsidized by the school or parish.
